Questions and Answers: for Adults

How can I determine if you would be a good match for me and for my therapeutic needs?

The first step would be to set up a time for us to talk on the phone for a few minutes. This allows you to get a sense of me as a professional. If we feel good about that conversation, then we can set up a time for us to meet in person in my office. This will give you an opportunity to share what your goals are in more depth. You want to choose a therapist with whom you feel comfortable talking to and who you feel heard by. Once you start regular sessions, we will continue to get to know each other. It can take weeks to feel fully comfortable with any new therapist.

I am an older adult and have been though a lot in my life. How can I know that you will not be overwhelmed by all I have been through?

Having practiced for over 20 years, I have treated people with a wide range of intense feelings and experiences. This experience allows me to hold a space where all stories and feelings are welcome. Within this space, we will work together tp create a safe therapeutic space that works for you.

I have a very busy schedule with a lot of demands on my time. Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes, I offer in person and virtual sessions. I prefer to meet you, at least once, in person so we have the real experience of being in each other’s presence before moving to virtual sessions. Once we have a working relationship in person it is easier to transition to virtual sessions. However, when it is clinically appropriate and necessary, I have worked with clients virtually for their entire therapy, and I am open to exploring what might work best for your needs.

Your office is in Half Moon Bay. If I live in the Half Moon Bay area, what happens if we run into each other in a public space?

Given that therapy is completely confidential, my practice is to smile but not engage with you if we meet in a public space. Everyone has their own preference about how we interact outside the office.
