Adults

Traversing our adult years is almost always full of celebrations and happy moments as well as times of struggles, transitions and/or grief. We could all use assistance at these challenging moments. Some needs for therapy may be transient during a short time of stress or change; while some clinical intervention involves longer term therapeutic work towards learning more deeply about lifelong patterns and making, often courageous, changes to old emotional responses and unhealthy patterns of behavior. I take whatever time is needed to create true and lasting change that allows clients to end up feeling happy and satisfied in all areas of their/your life. This involves deep listening on my behalf as well as offering new insights on old patterns or thinking, feeling and acting, or teaching new strategies for dealing with challenges.

All people have a combination of mental and emotional strengths and challenges. Part of successful therapy is becoming more intimate with the patterns of how our own minds and hearts work. This includes being honest about our challenges and exploring them in a safe and supportive environment as a foundation for true change. As we progress through adulthood our patterns of thinking and feeling can become more and more habitual and harder to understand and change. However, change IS possible throughout the life span. And whichever age you are when you enter into this process of healing, my goal is for you to end up living a life filled with as much meaning, love, and satisfaction as possible.

Towards this goal, I treat adults of all ages with relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, work related stress, parenting, grieving and general emotional or psychological struggles. I custom tailor my therapeutic approach based on your unique needs. This may include deeper psychodynamic work to understand your unique past and how it has led to your current challenges, psycho-educational practices, and/or providing you with homework to help your brain learn new approaches to and skills for challenging and triggering situations.
